Briony Kidd has been organising writers groups, script readings and write-ins in Hobart since 2008, while developing her career as a filmmaker and screenwriter. In 2013 she ran a ten-week evening course for Learn Xpress LINC Tasmania, Screenwriting: From Concept to Draft. In 2014 she offered that course again via Flash Factory Writers Studio, as well as a part 2 for ongoing students, Screenwriting: From Draft to Production, as well as an intensive weekend workshop, Write Your Feature Screenplay.
In 2015 Briony is offering:
- The Smarter First Draft – A six-week intensive course adopting a workshop-style approach, for participants with some screenwriting (or playwriting) experience to take a major project from concept to first draft;
- Write Your Feature Screenplay – an intensive weekend workshop for participants with some screenwriting (or playwriting) experience, with an emphasis on structure and solidifying a new concept in preparation to writing;
- Write Your Short Screenplay – an intensive weekend workshop for writers with limited or no screenwriting experience, with an emphasis on craft, formatting and structure;
- Screenwriting Taster – a half-day workshop suited to interested participants of any experience level.
All have very limited places available so early booking is recommended.
And also new in 2015…. Are you a Hobart-based writer who struggles with time management, motivation, or even just finding somewhere quiet to work? Introducing The Writing Cave. Twice a week (Monday and Wednesday nights in West Hobart) you have a place to work when you need it—with other writers to talk to, tea and coffee, internet access (which you’ll be strongly encouraged not to use) and inspiring guest speakers. There’s a small fee to attend, and it’s recommended that you pay for a block of time upfront, which will motivate you to commit! Commences in January. Details here.
